★NWF World Heavyweight Fighters Rights Match ★ Antonio Inoki vs Lou Thesz
★75 Fighting Spirit Series Part 1 ★: Reserved Seat B
The two faced each other only once during the 1962 Japan Pro Wrestling era, where Inoki was utterly defeated by Thesz's deadly backdrop. Thirteen years later, a rematch took place as 59-year-old Thesz challenged 31-year-old Inoki for the NWF World Heavyweight Championship. Right after the match began, Thesz stunned the crowd with the opening backdrop, showing he was still alive, but in the end, Inoki won with a blockbuster hold and successfully defended the title. This match marked the first visit to Japan by Antonio Rocca as a special referee, and was welcomed by Japanese Pro Wrestling fans and Pro Wrestling officials, marking Rocca's first and final visit to Japan in his lifetime.
