Ikki Kajiwara's shocking debut work is finally being reissued!!

'Champion Ta,' serialized in Kodansha's 'Weekly Shonen Magazine' in 1962, is the well-known manga debut of the original author Ikki Kajiwara. He once teamed up with artist Tatsuo Yoshida on the picture story 'Tekwan Rikiya,' and even after that series ended, he continued to produce masterpieces such as 'Harris Mudan.'

'Champion Ta' tells the story of a boy named Daito Ta, who aims to become the world's best pro wrestler. In the same year, a live-action TV adaptation was produced and enjoyed tremendous popularity. Many real fighters, including Rikidozan, appear, and the special moves are scientifically backed by scientific evidence. Even in his debut work, Kajiwara's unique techniques are already evident. If anything, it could be said to be the roots of 'Tiger Mask' and 'Karate for Life (Karate Baka Ichidai)'.
