Sports Sambo and Command Sambo In the former Soviet Union, there were two branches of unarmed martial arts. One was the unarmed combat (= Sports Sambo) training at Dinamo (the former Soviet Ministry of Internal Affairs police sports organization) to arrest and subdue criminals, and the other was unarmed combat (= Command Sambo), created in the Cheska (former Soviet 'Allied Forces Sports Organization') with the assumption of hand-to-hand combat. For a long time, Command Sambo was never made public as a military secret, and its existence was only revealed after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Command Sambo, said to have originated from Japanese jujutsu and incorporating elements from various ethnic martial arts from the former Soviet Union, was first revealed to Japan by Volk Han and Andrey Kopylov fighters. The technique is extremely advanced and highly practical. It is said to be the most advanced martial art, capable of instantly responding to any attack or situation.
