The 'Tai Chi Dialogue' explained in this book was published nearly 100 years ago, in 1929. This period was when Tai Chi spread most vigorously throughout China. The author, Chen Weiming, studied under Yang Chengfu, the third-generation figure said to have created the current form of Yang-style Tai Chi. His major works include 'Tai Chi Techniques,' 'Tai Chi Sword,' and 'Tai Chi Wen Du', making remarkable contributions to the spread of Tai Chi.
'Tai Chi Wen Du' is an ambitious work written in a format rarely seen elsewhere, where Chen Weiming answers various questions posed by beginners to intermediate practitioners. The range of questions is broad, making it an excellent book for learning about Tai Chi from various perspectives. Each question is often quite provocative, and many of it makes you want to know. For example, the following are the examples.

・Are you really not putting in any effort?
・Why does your mentor's teaching differ from the content of your book?
・How is it used in kumite?
・How can you captivate the audience with your performance?
・What kind of physique is suitable for Tai Chi?
・I haven't really met many masters. Why is that?

This book includes the original text of 'Tai Chi Wen Da,' as well as translations, annotations, and commentaries. We added annotations to technical terms as much as possible and added explanations, aiming to make the content understandable not only for Tai Chi experienced practitioners but also for those with no prior experience. The translations are designed for clarity, so readers won't be confused anymore!
By reading through these Q&A, you will not only be useful as a textbook on Tai Chi, but also reveal the unadorned authentic Tai Chi from a hundred years ago.
