Joichiro Tatsuyoshi / Published 2011 (Small B6 size)
New (Shogakukan Shinsho 101) Shogakukan / Joichiro Tatsuyoshi, 41 years old, boxer. Still active
At 21, he won the world title, suffered retinal detachment, suffered three consecutive world title losses, and claimed his third title.
And then the loss of the title—the glorious yet tumultuous twenties came to an end, and in his own words, Joichiro Tatsuyoshi should have returned to being an 'ordinary old man.'
However, in December 2002, at age 32, he made a comeback after three years and returned to the ring the following year. After a five-year hiatus, he defied the Japanese Boxing Commission to fight in Thailand and won. Although his boxing license in Japan was revoked, he still insisted on continuing to compete.
With one meal a day and daily training, he still maintains his bantamweight weight. He says he has no intention of putting down his gloves until he becomes champion again.
No matter how adversious the circumstances, Joichiro Tatsuyoshi, a man who never breaks his spirit, what kind of mindset has he held in his life? Incorporating his own words and numerous episodices, we introduce his untold indomitable spirit.
