16. The Butcher & Mascaras Legend

Director: So, while we were doing it, wrestlers came to the store, and some fighters started selling costumes directly.

Tarzan Yamamoto: yes. Hey, all kinds of fighters came.

Director: If I had to name a memory that had a particularly impact, it would be:
The one that left a deep impression on me was Abdullah the Butcher.

Butcher himself is now at the Tokyo Dome Hotel.
At that time, when a foreign wrestler came, there was a person who had always been enthusiastic about taking care of me during my stay, and for me, he was the brain behind the signs of fighters, and he called me.

"Butcher wants to sell costumes, but he can't go to the store, so he wants you to come to the hotel."

Oh, a business trip purchase request from that butcher!
I thought it was amazing, and it was late at night, but I immediately went straight to the designated room at the hotel.
I pressed ping-pong and I heard "Come in!"

When I opened it and entered the room, I saw Butcher, naked, with only a bath towel wrapped around his waist, sitting in a chair with Dawn and watching TV at a high volume. Completely expressionless (wry smile)

It's ugly, it's very creepy, it's cool, I thought, but I'm watching TV, so is it rude to talk to him? If you were confused, Even after glancing at me, you will continue to watch TV.
I watched TV together for a while.
In the middle of the show, he suddenly turned off the TV and turned to face me.
I was like, 'What do you want?'
I said, "There's a lot of them."
He took out a large suitcase and pulled out a lot of things, including costumes, murder shoes, and a bundle of forks.

"OK, I'll buy them all!" When I tried to find out here,
I was like, "No, no."
"It's a one-by-one negotiation."
First of all, how much do you buy this costume? That's how it started.
So, the price was quite open from the first one, so we continued to negotiate, and when we thought we had finally come to a compromise, then the next one, and then the negotiation started again with a higher price.
Isn't it okay to pay about the same amount of money after that?
I thought to myself, but if I left it to Butcher's pace, it would have taken a lot of time and the date would have changed (laughs).
But we managed to get the negotiations together.

▲ Butcher posing and money scattered on the side!

I thought it was good, so I had the costume I bought in my hand and took a photo .
At the end, I asked for an autograph to display in the store as a souvenir.
"Thank you very much for your time today Shikishi ( Autograph board ) ! I want you to write TOUDOUKAN and give it to me."
"Special Memory?。。。 Ten Southant!" (wry smile)
Eh, why is it 10,000 yen for one Shikishi ( Autograph board ) , I thought it was expensive.
I've already bought about 500,000, but I thought I would still say 10,000, so I thought I'd say no.
I started signing without permission before refusing.

Until then, all the costumes were signed after the amount was agreed.
I didn't say it was OK, but I started writing.
No, no, if you think you won't pay 10,000 yen,
Take out a fork, give it to me, stick out your forehead,
"Stick Me! Stick Me! Hia! Hari-up!" What
Suddenly, I was told that I was in game mode, or that I was very excited (laughs).
Well, I thought,
I can understand Butcher's intentions.
Still, there was resistance to 10,000 yen.
I said, "Okay, Five Southant," handed him 5,000 yen, and stuck a fork into Butcher's jagged forehead.

Tarzan Yamamoto: yes~. The director stabbed Butcher (laughs).

Director: But of course, it's my first experience of sticking a fork into a living person, so I can't hold back and stab it deeply.

Tarzan Yamamoto: That's right.

Director: Then I shouted, "Kamon! I told him to stab me more (laughs).

Then, when I said it, blood dripped out.
Then, Butcher pressed his forehead with blood dripping on the Shikishi ( Autograph board ) he wrote (laughs)

Ah, this is the legendary bloody sign! What.

You have a great physical service, Butcher.
Impressed.
Thank you! I asked him to let me use this for advertising, so I tipped him even more and pulled him up.

▲ The moment when Butcher fishes with his own blood!

Tarzan Yamamoto: ... Butcher said. Every time we meet, the first words we say are "Money! I don't know. That's right. Because it's a business. It's very American. Because the feeling is different from that of Japan. That's why you can make up for it with money. That's why it's easier to do the opposite.

▲ Residual blood drips onto the sheets

Director: Well, that's part of it.
But that was a good stimulating memory (laughs) When I checked the date of the photo that it didn't do, it was just midnight on March 23, 2010. It was the 10th anniversary of the company's founding.

Also, if I had to name one more unforgettable memory of a wrestler, it would be:
When Mil Mascaras came to the store.
One day, it came out of the blue.
With a bare face.

Tarzan Yamamoto: Eh, did you come with a real face?

Director: That's why I didn't immediately notice mascaras at first, but from the moment I walked into the store, it gave off a unique and amazing aura. I saw his burly body in a polo shirt, his gait with his back straight, and his round eyes.
(Ah, mascaras!) What? Then I passed in front of me,
I used the inner staircase as it was and went up to the 6th floor. The staff immediately guessed and asked me what I was going to do.

I thought I should say hello for a moment.

I used to go to other Pro Wrestling shops and sell masks that didn't go through me, so I heard industry gossip about yelling and cutting the mask with scissors, so I was nervous that maybe something would be done.
If you look at the situation on the 6th floor with a security camera, you will stand alone in front of the showcase dedicated to Mil Mascaras masks (wry smile)

Tarzan Yamamoto: Kukuku

Director: Wow, yes (laughs)
I wondered if it would be a big deal if I opened the showcase.
I thought I'd leave it at that.
If you think about it, it's rude to talk to me strangely even though I'm here with a bare face.
I didn't dare to talk to him.
Then, after about 15 minutes, he came down by himself again, and he said "Grachas!" as usual. When I asked, he smiled and nodded and said something in Spanish. I just left.

I was glad that nothing had happened, but the next day I received an email from a person who represented Mascaras, and he gave me advice on various details, such as a small complaint.
I'm sorry that it's not a very positive story.

Tarzan Yamamoto: No, no, it's very interesting. That kind of interaction with the wrestlers can be an event in itself.

Director: There are a lot of things I can't tell you (laughs).
Another big event in the Nagayaville era was the treasure related to Rikidozan. Above all, it is related to the Momota family.

▲ Seven years later, they met again at the Mexico Lucha Expo
