ON MAY 1, 2010, WORLD SEIDO KARATE ORGANIZATION was invited to demonstrate the art of traditional Japanese karate in front of 30,000 people during the Sakura Matsuri celebration at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. This DVD features demonstrations of technique and spirit by some of the most celebrated practitioners of Seido Karate. Highlights include an exhibition match using traditional weapons between Nidaime A. Nakamura and Shuseki Shihan William Best, an advanced kata performed by the great Hanshi Charles Martin and a tameshiwari (breaking) demonstration by the founder of Seido, (Grandmaster) Kaicho T. Nakamura, breaking rocks using only his bare hands. Also included are exciting presentations of free fighting and self-defense by senior Seido students.
Drawing on the principles of traditional Japanese martial art, Seido Karate brings together physical conditioning and mental discipline in a supportive atmosphere for students of any age or ability.
