Hardback Jitsugyo Sekaisha / Okinawa's Te (T), that is, KARATE, has been widely recognized by the general public for its true value, and today it is recognized worldwide as KARATE. It is a source of pride not only for us practitioners but also for Okinawa.
However, just because KARATE has crossed borders and spread worldwide, and the KARATE population has surged, I reflect on whether we should immediately let go and celebrate its development. What I deeply question is: I don't think I'm alone.
There are various issues involved, but first, the surge in trainees leads to a shortage of key instructors, a decline in quality, and the transition to sports-oriented development.
As a result, we have lost the essential essence of KARATE, and it is painfully felt that we are distorted not only mentally but also technically.
If it spreads as it is, there will inevitably be a time when concerns arise in the future.
In particular, Goju-ryu KARATE has its origins in the southern style of Shaolin from Fujian Province, China, making its techniques extremely difficult and hindering the training and instruction of younger practitioners.
. It has been exactly twenty-five years since Master Chojun Miyagi passed away, and also twenty-five years since I established the dojo. Feeling a keen sense of responsibility for the training of the next generation, I hope this will be a way to repay my late mentor, so I have taken up my pen despite my limited learning and lack of ability.
