Both were launched in 1972 as New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling. Looking back at the relationship between the two promotions, the true truth of the rise and fall of Japan Pro Wrestling comes to light. It has unfolded over 50 years of battle.
During the era when the two giants clashed, an endless poaching war broke out. Affiliated fighters and foreign wrestlers would move between the two rings, sometimes entering a honeymoon phase, and then betrayal would occur.
When the BI era ended, a cooperative approach emerged. In the ring, the Three Musketeers and the Four Heavenly Kings fiercely competed, and both promotion led the Heisei Pro Wrestling boom.
In 1999, Baba passed away, and All Japan split. Even so, they held firm in the competition against New Japan Pro Wrestling. The era shifted from corporate warfare to coexistence and mutual prosperity, and the era name became Reiwa. In 2022, Inoki also passed away.
The next half-century has begun once again.
