The Toda School, established by Toda Echigo-no-kami and flourishing during the Sengoku period. It is said that the Kiraku style was founded by the seventh-generation Watanabe Mokuemon, who inherited the Toda-style martial arts and newly added jujutsu techniques. Iizuka Garyusai, considered the restorer of the Kiraku school, was born in Joshu and learned the Kiraku and Toda styles from his uncle. Having inherited the tenth-generation head family of the Kiraku school, Garyusai further studied various schools. Later, he combined the Kiraku-ryu, Toda-ryu, and Muteki-ryu to complete the three major techniques of the Kiraku style, which he widely transmitted throughout the Joshu region. This technique combines various weapon techniques such as sticks, secret weapons for the true sword bakubatori (kyuki, kuzaku-kama), and iron fan passed down in the Toda-style hanbojutsu techniques, along with body movements such as gripping and throwing hands. As times changed endlessly, the legendary martial art of Kiraku-ryu, which remained hidden in the shadows of history, is introduced by the 15th head family of Fumio Iijima.
