In January 1934, he became the first Taisho born in Makuuchi Sumo wrestler. In the semi-tournament held in June of Showa 13, he defeated yokozuna Futabayama, who had won 87 consecutive matches in the combined of the main place and the quasi-place, by passing in, and made a name for himself. He went out of business at the end of the war and then switched to Pro Wrestling and worked as a referee for Japan Pro Wrestling.
